Sabel Systems Welcomes Retired Air Force Colonel Robert Epstein as Senior Defense Technology Leader

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio, June 8, 2026 – Sabel Systems today announced the addition of Robert Epstein, Colonel (Ret), USAF, to its growing team of technology leaders as Chief Strategy & Mission Architect, Department of the Air Force (DAF). A nationally recognized leader with more than 30 years of experience driving innovation, digital transformation, and mission readiness across the Department of the Air Force, the Joint Force, and the defense industry, Robert’s appointment marks a significant milestone in Sabel’s ongoing mission to deliver cutting-edge digital engineering capabilities to the warfighter.

Robert brings a distinguished record of leadership in Multi‑Domain Operations (MDO), C4ISR modernization, Modeling, Simulation & Training (MS&T), Electronic Warfare (EW), and advanced AI‑enabled mission solutions. Prior to joining Sabel, he served as a Senior Solution Architect at Leidos, where he led major Air Force and Space Force capture efforts and spearheaded the integration of agentic AI, automation, and next‑generation digital engineering capabilities across high‑visibility programs.

A retired Air Force Colonel, Robert previously commanded the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS), where he transformed the organization into a high‑performing enterprise hub for Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC) readiness and interoperability. His military career included senior leadership roles supporting combat operations in Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, and NATO operations, as well as command of the 36th Electronic Warfare Squadron and service as an Air Force One Advance Agent.
